Saturday 16th May 2020.
Doors open at 11am for the Round 1 draw at 11.45am. We finish by 6pm.
Christian Street Community Centre – about 10 minutes walk from Aldgate East or Whitechapel tube stations, 5 minutes from Shadwell DLR/Overground station, or walkable from Liverpool Street.
Everyone plays three rounds at tables of three – you play two matches and host the third, using a pack of letters and numbers. By the end of the day, you’ll have played six games. Based on the standings at the end of Round 1 (number of wins, then points scored), then everyone is regrouped according to their performance. We do the same again after Round 2. At the end of Round 3, the top two players go forward to play a Grand Final match to decide the overall winner for the day.
Just £10 per person! You can secure your place now with Fiona using PayPal. If you don’t have PayPal, please contact Fiona or George to arrange alternative payment.
The event is not-for-profit. The fee pays for venue hire, trophies, prizes and other sundries.
Bring a packed lunch, or support the nearby local shops who sell a range of sandwiches and cakes. Tea and coffee will be provided throughout the day at the venue.
As it’s Eurovision, we have something extra special lined up for the lunchbreak – more details soon!
We’ve provisionally booked the Amber Bar at the excellent Baltic Restaurant (see Trip Advisor review here) which serves great food and cocktails. The booked area is wheelchair accessible. We will be choosing from a £30 fixed menu – for London, this is pretty good value, but really we need at least 30 people to attend to meet the minimum spend requirement, so please let us know as soon as possible if you’re interested.
Look out for special weekend rates on trains and coaches into London on National Rail, National Express coaches or megabus.com.
The venue is close to the rail and tube networks – have a look at TfL’s website for route and fare details – but please allow sufficient time in your journey to get across London.
