t may be three months ago but the events of CoNot 2016 are still fresh in my mind. Ish. I’ve got video footage of it at any rate.
Following on from last year’s modestly successful CoNot IV, 20 Countdowners returned to Nottingham, some came for the first time, and one came for the first time despite living in Nottingham so neither needed to come to nor return to the city.
The COLIN format was used so six games were played each, in between which, as per CoNot tradition, some football was played.
And some, erm, ‘football’ was played.
(Callum is at least dressed the part.)
After a lot of Countdown was played and a lot of balls were blown (and two people decided to have a flake fight) it was left to Jack Worsley and Zarte Siempre- who’d been first and second at the last tournament I’d hosted, the COLIN hangover- to contest the final. Jack won. Again. And has now won the last 20 games in a row at events I’ve hosted.
The top 3 (James Robinson coming a hard-earned third) all took home cheap wooden cubes with small house numbers stuck to them, and free entry into CoNot VI. Which will hopefully be at a more salubrious venue and won’t see me and my mum stuck at Swinderby station for 45 minutes after two knobheads on the train decided to try to fill each other in.
